Lamu or Lamu Town is a small town on Lamu Island, which in turn is a part of the Lamu Archipelago in Kenya. Situated 341 kilometres (212 mi) by road northeast of Mombasa that ends at Mokowe Jetty from where the sea channel has to be crossed to reach Lamu Island.  Population (2009) was 13,243.

The town and island are popular tourist destinations.

Leipzig is the most populous city in the federal state of Saxony, Germany. With a population of 582,277 inhabitants (1.1 million residents in the larger urban zone) it is Germany's tenth most populous city. From imposing São Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge. Nearby, the National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles. Just outside Lisbon is a string of Atlantic beaches, from Cascais to Estoril.

Standing on the River Thames in the south east of the island of Great Britain, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. Its estimated mid-2016 municipal population (corresponding to Greater London) was 8,787,892 and accounts for 13.4% of the population in the United Kingdom.

Lugano is a city in southern Switzerland in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino bordering Italy. It has a population (as of December 2016) of 63,932, and an urban agglomeration of over 145,000. The city lies on Lake Lugano, surrounded by the mountains of the Lugano Prealps.

Following on from the establishment of Ticino University (1996), many specialised research institutes arrived, including the new Swiss National Supercomputing Centre, and this has allowed Lugano to play a key role in research and in the knowledge society.
