City Lab Coventry (Coventry - United Kingdom)
City Lab Coventry is a living lab (member of the European Network of Living Labs – ENoLL) that resulted from the joint venture between Coventry University and Coventry City Council. The main aim of the project is to promote real-life experimentation of ground-breaking and sustainable technological solutions, allowing citizens to co-create and test innovations. The lab develops projects in the sectors of intelligent mobility, digital and creative, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.
ICT such as cloud computing and the Coventry City Urban Traffic Management Control System, among others, will be used to develop and pilot large-scale solutions in Low Carbon Vehicles and Low Impact Sustainable Buildings. City Lab Coventry also includes a serious games studio / app lab, which provides specialist support in the creation of 3D immersive simulations, and business support for SMEs, start-ups and large corporations.
Some projects that serve as an example of Coventry City Lab’s work are the Warm Neighbourhoods in Dallas (trial a consumer care service platform to help people live independently), UK Autodrive (driverless cars trial with 2 different types of vehicles), and Coventry Fab Lab (a social innovation and impact hub for every citizen that wants to make Coventry a better place).
