Kauai, is a volcanic island, Kauai county, Hawaii, U.S. Known also as the "Garden Isle", Kauaʻi lies 105 miles (169 km) across the Kauaʻi Channel, northwest of Oʻahu. The 2010 United States Census population of the island was 67,091.
The nearly circular island is dominated by Mount Waialeale, rising to 5,243 feet (1,598 metres) at the island’s centre. The island is the site of Waimea Canyon State Park. Sugar was formerly the main agricultural product, but production ceased in the early 21st century after a decades-long decline. Tourism is Kauaʻi's largest industry.
