Sabadell is the second largest city in the comarca of the Vallès Occidental in Catalonia, 20 km (12 mi) north of Barcelona, Spain. It had a total population of 207,444 in 2014.
During the 19th and 20th century it was the pioneer in the industrial revolution of the textile sector in Catalonia, converting itself in the most important wool city of the Spanish state and gaining the nickname “the Catalan Manchester”.
Sabadell is an important communications point. Two motorways run beside the city and some roads link it with nearby cities and towns.
