Cyberjaya is Malaysia’s flagship cybercity promoted in commercial leaflets as “one of the world’s leading smart cities” and as a “test bed” for the integration of ICTs into everyday life. It was created from scratch to be a smart city model for Malaysia. The project to build the city (the Multimedia Super Corridor Project) was launched by the Malaysian Government in 1996 with the goal of advancing the country’s innovation and knowledge-based economy.

Cyberjaya is a town with a science park as the core that forms a key part of the Multimedia Super Corridor in Malaysia. It is located in Sepang District, Selangor. Cyberjaya is adjacent to, and developed along with Putrajaya, Malaysia's new seat of government. The day-time population in Cyberjaya is about 83,000 and the current population is expected to increase to 100,000 by end of 2016 with the robust developments taking place. Cyberjaya's population is expected to increase to 210,000 by 2020.
