Agartala is the capital of the Indian state of Tripura as well as the second largest city in North-east India after Guwahati, both in municipal area and population. The city is the seat of the Government of Tripura. Agartala is one of the fastest developing cities of India. Agartala is a component of two words, namely "Agar", a kind of oily valuable perfume tree, and the suffix "tala", a storehouse. The city is governed by the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

Agra is an ancient city, mentioned in the Mahabharata and came into the limelight during the reign of the Mughals. It is famous as being home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World-the Taj Mahal. The Taj is a monument of such incredible elegance that it is considered synonymous with beauty itself.

Ahmedabad also known as Amdavad is the largest city and former capital of Gujarat, which is a state in India. Ahmedabad has emerged as an important economic and industrial hub in India. It is the second largest producer of cotton in India, and its stock exchange is the country's second oldest. In 2010, Ahmedabad was ranked third in Forbes's list of fastest growing cities of the decade.In 2012, The Times of India chose Ahmedabad as India's best city to live in. As of 2014, Ahmedabad's estimated gross domestic product was $64 billion.

Aizawl is the capital of the state of Mizoram in India. It is also the centre of administration containing all the important government offices, state assembly house and civil secretariat. The population of Aizawl strongly reflects the different communities of the ethnic Mizo people.

Ajmer is a city in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan.  Ajmer is surrounded by the Aravalli Mountains. It is a pilgrimage centre for the shrine of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and is also the base for visiting Pushkar (11 km), an ancient Hindu pilgrimage city, famous for the temple of Lord Brahma. Ajmer has been selected as one of the heritage cities for the HRIDAY - Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana scheme of Government of India.

Aligarh is a city in the Northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh that is famous for lock industries and the administrative headquarters of the Aligarh district. It lies 203 kilometres (126 mi) northwest of Kanpur and is approximately 140 kilometres (87 mi) southeast of the capital, New Delhi. Aligarh is one of the largest cities in Uttar Pradesh, and is the 55th largest city in India. Key features of the city are:

Allahabad local Hindustani pronunciation: or Prayag is a large metropolitan city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Allahabad is the oldest living city in India after Varanasi. The city's original name – Prayag, or "place of offerings" – comes from its position at the Sangam (confluence) of the Ganga, Yamuna and Sarasvati rivers. It plays a central role in Hindu scriptures.

Amaravati is the capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a newly planned city which derives its name from the ancient Amaravathi town located in Guntur district. Newly planned city of Amaravati along with neighboring Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali forms the Metropolitan region of Amaravati namely Andhra Pradesh Capital Region which is the largest populated region of Andhra Pradesh state with a population of 5.8 million as of 2011 census which is governed by APCRDA.

Amritsar is a city in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab, 28 kilometers from the border with Pakistan. It is  the centre of Sikhism and the site of the Sikhs’ principal place of worship—the Harmandir Sahib, or Golden Temple. At the center of its walled old town, the gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is the holiest gurdwara (religious complex) of the Sikh religion. It’s at the end of a causeway, surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar tank (lake), where pilgrims bathe.

Aurangabad is a city in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra state in India . The city is a tourism hub, surrounded by many historical monuments, including the Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves, which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as Bibi Ka Maqbara and Panchakki.
